Groundhog Day Blizzard

We woke up on Groundhog Day to 19 inches of new powder. I hate to think what that may bode for the rest of the winter... They're so adept at handling snow here in Misawa that it takes A LOT to cancel or delay school. So you can imagine our surprise when we got a call early this morning telling us that it was a snow day for all schools and no one was supposed to go in to work until noon. =^O Everyone needed the extra rest and time to dig ourselves out. Below are some pictures to give you a glimpse into our life right now:

check out the size of the snow piles in front of our houses
You can see how high that drift is above James' head
Finding space to put the snow is becoming a problem...
I pitched in by shoveling the walkway up to the trash
What the neighborhood looks like after several hours of shoveling and snow plowing
Thank goodness for snow plows. This is the corner of our neighborhood and the main road.

They have mini snow plow machines for the sidewalks around base
At least the snow is beautiful
