At the end of May, we returned from a wonderful trip to visit James' grandparents in Maine. After readjusting to being at home, we jumped right into potty training Kaden, which went surprisingly well. We tried to be thoughtful about getting him excited about the process. We watched his favorite children's show all about using the bathroom, showed him his cool new kid's potty seat, bought him a whole bunch of new cool underwear to choose from, and made a sticker chart to reward him every time he successfully went in the toilet. He got it pretty quickly, we were so proud!
Shortly thereafter, we got to celebrate James' promotion to major. The kids and I got to be there for the ceremony in the squadron and we even got to pin on his new rank! We are so proud of him and all he's accomplished. Around that time he started working as an assistant director of operations in the squadron, which was a great experience.
What I remember about June was receiving some special guests. Early in the month, one of my best friends came to visit. We met Cortney Piper and her husband Jason in Korea. They're now living in Arizona, but she was bouncing around the east coast seeing family and stopped by to reunite with Air Force family. Her daughter Sophia and Kaden got along great and we got to catch up and chat about life with 2 kids. (Cortney was expecting their son Luke at the time). She is always so thoughtful and has a way of bringing everything back to God. Through chatting with her I realized I was likely struggling with some mild postpartum depression and started working on dealing with that. Thankfully James and our Bible study friends were super supportive and helped get me through it.

Toward the end of the month it got really hot so we found creative ways to cool down. We got a kiddie pool which both kids love! Audrey is so comfortable in the water and enjoyed splashing around, even as a 4 month old!
