September 11, 2011 was a rough day for us this year. Not only was it the 10 year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, but it was also the 6 month anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami here in Japan. I'm not aware that the base did a whole lot to honor either anniversary (I had just returned from the States and was still a little jet-lagged and preoccupied preparing for James' return from Alaska). But I do know that many of us thought long and hard about it that day and continue with our resolution never to forget the massive loss of life and all the sacrifices brave people have made since then in an effort to help their nations recover.
