James' younger brother Josh has grown up quite a bit since the last time we saw him. He is now a teenager and preparing to enter high school! I know James enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with him and invest a little in that relationship. Josh is a very smart kid and has won some awards for his science projects and in chess tournaments. He's also a big baseball fan and loves playing board games. I got a kick out of watching the two of them playing together - whether in the back yard with bats and balls, in the living room with cards and boards, or running all over the house with laser tag equipment and Nerf dart guns. I think it was some good dad practice. ;^)
During the day when Josh was in school and Valerie was at work, Robert showed us around Portland. We were there at a beautiful time of year when all of the flowering bushes and trees were in bloom. One afternoon we went walking through a couple of the big flower gardens they have. Below are a few photos capturing the lush green landscape!

Thankfully, Valerie is also a shutterbug and, together, we were able to convince the guys to stand still long enough to get some updated family portraits before we left for the airport.

On Sunday, May 19th we all piled into their minivan, and drove the final leg to Seattle where we were catching the rotater to Korea. We spent the night in a hotel by the airport so we could get up early and check in for our flight. Overseas travel is always a long process, but thankfully everything went smoothly and less than 24 hours later we were standing on Korean soil!
