Whether or not we're ready to start saying good bye to friends, time is running short and forcing our hand. We have really enjoyed having our great friends Ryan and Lacey Worrell here in Misawa with us for the last year. In addition to little road trips and parties, we've been blessed with their fellowship in our Sunday night couple's Bible study. But Ryan was just certified as the new PACAF Demo Pilot and is leaving this week for a big demo trip to Australia. Lacey plans to join him after helping host my baby shower on Saturday. So we made a point of spending some quality time together this past weekend in order to say "see you later".
First we went on a double date to the Thai restaurant in town. SO good. Ryan had never been there before and didn't believe us when we warned him how spicy the food was. So he ordered his pad thai with "medium" spice and ended up sweating bullets through the whole meal. He insisted it still tasted good but I didn't envy him the belly ache he'd likely have later.
After dinner we went back to their place and they introduced us to a fun card game called Munchkin. This felt like such a normal night out with friends that I didn't get emotional at all. I don't think the fact that we're leaving in less than two weeks has really set in yet. But at least we can say we got that quality time in and snapped a few photos for the memory books!! Hoping we'll be stationed together again in the future!
