Buon Natale!

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we stuck close to home and spent our time decorating Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies in our pj's.

On Christmas Eve, we went to church with our friends, then we joined in on the squadron Christmas Party Caleb and Jordan were hosting that night. The theme was chili in Sacile - so we had several different types of chili and cornbread for dinner, plus far too many delicious desserts. We enjoyed getting a sense of what the community is like there at Aviano, and even met some friends of friends and people who will be moving to Misawa soon. What a small world we're in!

Our well-dressed Christmas Eve hosts.
On Christmas Day there were about nine of us who gathered at our friend Matt and Corrie's house to celebrate. We all wore our pj's, ate brunch and swapped stocking-stuffers from around the world. Then we spent a lazy afternoon grazing on left-overs, watching movies and playing board games while people took turns borrowing the Ott's computer to skype with their families in the States. That night, we had pot roast, my sweet potato casserole, and lots of other delicious, traditional Christmas casseroles for a late dinner. We were so stuffed when we went home that I'm surprised I was able to eat as much as I did the following day... But hey, it's Christmas, right?

We girls all ordered special flannel Christmas PJs for the occasion
