Before we were really ready for it, Christmas was upon us. Thanks to a rather demanding baby and our trip to the States, I've felt very behind on our Christmas prep this year. We didn't even get the tree up till a week and a half beforehand. Normally I've got everything up the day after Thanksgiving! For one reason or another, I just don't feel like we really got to enjoy this advent season. So I'm thankful that our friends Jason and Cortney Piper decided to host a special Christmas Eve party after the candlelight service at church. At least that helped us have some fun and make some special memories this year.

The party at the Pipers began with a family style potluck dinner with about 20 of our friends. We each brought an heirloom dish to share and enjoyed sampling them all while sitting around one of two large tables. I, of course, brought my grandmother's sweet potato casserole. It was a hit, as always!

By the time dinner was finished, Kaden was getting a little fidgety in his suit. So we decided to begin a new Christmas tradition and have him open one Christmas gift - a pair of pj's to wear! We found these while in the States. They have festive patterned suspenders and a tie on the front! SO appropriate!

After dinner, we cleared the tables away and had a talent show of sorts. It was a really fun way to make some memories and share some laughs. What a fun new Christmas tradition!

Jason started off with a "magic" show. He set the bar pretty low so no one would be nervous performing.

Our friends the Chapmans performed a choreographed song and dance they wrote about Kaden and Jack.

Tim Six breathed fire!! CRAZY!
I brought my piano over and played a part of a new age piano arrangement of "What Child is This." I messed up a bit in the middle but everyone was very impressed. After that, we kept the music going by singing Christmas carols, lead by Caleb.
What a special night, shared with our AF family! It's hard to be away from family in the States but this is a good second option. =^)
