While the Guys are Away...

...The ladies will play!

In mid April, James went TDY to Gwangju for a 2 week exercise with the Korean Air Force. This was our first separation since Kaden was born. We are truly blessed that we had a full 8 months together without him deploying or going TDY. That is one of the best parts about being stationed in Korea - the guys are almost always here!

Having said that, I do enjoy the special bonding that occurs with the ladies while the guys are away. Two weeks may not seem like a long time on a calendar, but we managed to do a lot of fun things! In addition to all of the Easter celebrations, we gathered in small groups for meals and good conversation. I started a monthly film club where people come over to watch a movie and discuss it afterward. And we held a big farewell dinner for our Mayorette, Andrea Hunt, who was handing over the job of our social coordinator and Mistress of Ceremonies before moving back to the States. We swapped silly stories and enjoyed a night of Fiendette Frivolity at an Indian Restaurant. Definitely a night to remember!

I will miss Andrea. She was so much fun!

One unexpected treat that came out of this TDY was seeing Kaden's reaction when James came home. Reunions are always sweet, but seeing that little boy's face light up and hearing him squeal and laughing as he bounced out of my grip and into James' outstretched arms was SO special. He's too young to really understand what was going on, but it was evident that he missed James. He wasn't quite as happy and smiley while his daddy was away. It's also amazing seeing how much Kaden changed in those two weeks. Before James left Kaden could barely propel himself forward on the floor to grab a toy. But the day James came back, he started crawling up on his hands and knees and learned to transition from the floor to sitting and back again. Amazing!

For now, things are relatively back to normal. We are soaking up as much quality time with daddy as possible before our 6 week separation this summer. I know that will be hard on both Kaden and James, but thankfully he will have lots of work to keep him occupied, and Kaden and I will have family and friends in the States to keep us company!

Amazing how much more mobile he is!
 learning to play ball!

Love my men!!!
