As we enter the week leading up the anniversary of the disasterous earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011 - there are many events going on to honor the victims and celebrate the triumphs as they're rebuilding and trying to move forward in life.
This last weekend, the Billy Grahm Evangelistic Association held a big outreach event in Sendai called "A Celebration of Hope". They brought in some big-named Christian artists including Kirk Franklin to lead the people in worship one year later. Then Billy Grahm's son Franklin shared the gospel with over 12,000 Japanese people. In a country where less than 1% of the population are Christians, it's HUGE that 400 Japanese people came forward and made a committment to Christ over the course of those three days. We held a webcast of the event at the International Center here in Misawa and eight more people from our small community came to Christ.
